(05/02-10/02) There is not much to say about Porto Seguro - in fact we only stayed there 1 night. There is the Pasarela do Alcol which is full of souvenir and cocktail stalls. Cocktails are R$5 (about 2.5 euros!) and are very good! We met a German guy on the bus to Porto Seguro and were just amazed by the size of his bag - so small compared to ours, but he sleeps on a hammock all the time. I'm still having difficulties carrying the damn pack, and everytime we stop somewhere I reorganise it - mine as well as Fabio's :)
The following day we move to Arraial D'Ajuda, just a 10 min ferry ride from Porto Seguro. So far this has been the day I've bitched the most! Had to walk for ages under the sun - I just wanted to through my back pack in the sea. It took us a long time to find the camp site, and then we find out it's closed. Thankfully we meet a nice (and strange) man on the opposite side of the road who takes us to Camping Da Lu, run by a sweet old lady.
The centre of Arraial is perched on top of a hill while the beaches are down below. We are a bit sick of the beaches and only spend one day there. The remaining 3 days we spend throughout the town centre or at the camp site. We've met a few couples from Sao Paulo - they are all bikers. They have invited us to stay at their place when we go to Sao Paulo.
The 7th is Fabio's B-day, we spend the day at the beach and then the night out in the town centre. Cocktails at Barraca do Ivan are the best (and cheapest) - the guy tells us his whole life story more or less. We then meet a group of clowns from Rio who are performing on the street. They are incredibly friendly and invite us over to their apartment for beers and a plate of pasta with soy meat.
Don't know whether it's the alcohol or the food we ate on the street but the next day we are both sick. Lots of coconut water and we are back on our feet again!
We have decided to go to Rio directly from here - Maybe find somewhere to stay for a few weeks and do a basic Portuguese course. I'm starting to love this language.
